Can a LCD TV’s picture settings change how long the tv lasts?

I just bought a toshiba 47″ and im wondering if I should “calibrate” the picture by turning the brightness or backlight down to save life of the tv?

Does the life expectancy of the TV grow if you turn down the right ones?

It does, but the amount if changes the life of the lamp (which is what would eventually die) is too small to warrant leaving the TV on darker settings. In 20 years, I doubt you’ll be angry the TV’s lamp went out. It will most certainly die of natural causes before then (Or have succumbed to the vicious Toshiba green tint virus).

Put the TV on whatever settings you enjoy the most.

P.S. If it ever starts turning green, you can go into the secret service menu and pull down the gains on the green level. You can google it depending on what model you got.
