How to get monitor to work with new graphics card?
I just got a GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card for my Gateway. I uninstalled the drivers for the old card (7100) and put in this one, but now my monitor (an Asus LCD) is saying the DVI signal is lost. I can boot up the computer, but the monitor won’t work.
Without the new card, the monitor works just fine.
I looked around online, and saw a lot of mention of DVI cables. My monitor is just hooked into the normal analog port in the back of the PC.
So to get the monitor to recognize it, do I need to connect it directly to the card instead with a DVI cable? I just don’t want to go out and buy one if it’s not going to help.
Thanks
yep plugging into the port ON the new card will do the trick. You can find VGA to DVI adapters if you dont want to spend money for a whole new cable.
