my camera’s LCD display has a gray bar on the side and is going slightly desaturated.?
I’ve had the camera for a year, the warrenty is over.. it’s never done anything like this before, but today i had it outside in fairly cold temps and it just started dimming on the LCD screen, i took out the SD card and placed it in my old camera and the photos display fine.. they aren’t messed up at all but my GE A835 is displaying them all grey and messed up, there is a giant grey bar on the side and scan lines althroughtout the display.
whats wrong here? I can’t afford a new camera right now.. and sending it in would probably cost more money.
Bad news is the screen has probably had it. You’ll still be able to take pictures, but seeing them to edit them before getting to a computer will be a problem (as will working the menu options).
The video controller or a connection may have gone bad. Here is a simple troubleshooting step you can try:
Remove the battery & memory card, leave the batter door open. If you can take out the battery while the camera is on and the lens extended. Let it sit for 2-3 days in a normal temp room. This will give any moisture that may have formed when you brought it into the heat from the cold evaporate out and let the electronics reset. Electronics fog up inside like your sunglasses when they go from cold to hot suddenly. Always allow them to warm up slowly inside a bag.
This will probably do nothing, but it can’t hurt to try.
