I wanted to purchase a tv and have narrowed it down to these two:

Key Features: 1080p, 120hz, 2ms response time, 4hdmi inputs, 50,000:1 contrast ratio(i was told not to take this into consideration because different companies use different methods to rate this spec but im not sure if its true or not), Perfect Pixel HD Engine, Perfect Natural Motion HD.

I know sony is more ‘experienced’ in hdtvs and its seems like the better buy but I can’t figure out why the philips is regularly almost $1000(even more on other sites). Thanks for your help!
I have owned Sony TV for over 20 years ,with very few service calls, so I have a very good opinion of them. I have also had, RCA, Motorola, and a few other brands, Sony was and still is my choice.
Recently, one of our local hospitals decided to go the flat screen route, and purchased, (or leased, I’m not sure) many of the Philips sets, and almost half were rejected in the first four months because of break downs.
Rare happening? only the technicians know for sure.
