Lcd Notebook Replacement
LG Laptop LCD Replacement – Manufacturer vs. Do-it-Yourself?
My LG laptop LCD is cracked and not usuable. Should I send my laptop away to LG to get the LCD fixed or do it myself?
The repair request page has this disclaimer:
“Any notebooks received with physical damage, including broken LCD and liquid damage are not considered a Manufacturer’s defect and WILL NOT be covered under Manufacturers warrant.”
So I assume they will not fix it for free. I heard that manufacturer repair costs are outrageous, and to do it yourself is much cheaper and not very difficult. Any suggestions?
If you received it like that, then you could file a claim with the shipping company. I have never replaced an LCD before, but I’ve seen articles about replacing them, and it doesn’t cost a lot or seems to be that hard. If you are confident in your abilities, go ahead and replace the LCD, but if not, and LG won’t have anything to do with it, take it to an experienced technichan. But before you do any of that, if you haven’t already done so, contact LG support (http://www.lge.com/support/main.jhtml) and see what they say.
